About the Session

This breathwork session is an invitation to journey inward, beyond the surface of the mind and into the unseen. A space to open, to shift what is no longer yours to carry, and to receive guidance through ceremony and the sacred.

We begin by opening the space. Calling in the directions, anchoring into the earth beneath us, and inviting in IxCacao and the elements to witness and hold the journey. The space becomes something more than a room… a container between worlds.

We drink cacao as medicine for the heart and womb softening the edges, opening gently, allowing whatever is ready to come forward to be welcomed.

From here, we drop into meditation, where you are guided to meet your future self. Not as something separate, but as a part of you that already exists… waiting to be remembered.

Shamanic style breathwork is a deep inner journey guided by the intelligence of your own breath. Through conscious connected breathing in specific patterns and rhythms, with tribal music, drums and movement, the body begins to open. The mind quietens, and the deeper layers start to speak. This is not about chasing an experience, but surrendering to one.

As the breath deepens, layers begin to fall away. Emotions may rise, memories may surface, old energies can move. Insight can arrive suddenly, like something remembered rather than learned. The rhythm of the drum becomes a pulse, the breath becomes a bridge, and your inner world begins to unfold.

Each journey moves in waves. Intensity, release, tenderness, stillness. You may meet parts of yourself long forgotten, or feel something ancient moving through you. There can be a sense of vastness, of connection, of being both held and opened at the same time.

After the breath, we enter integration. Rest, reflection, and optional sharing. A time to gently return, allowing what has shifted to root itself into the body.

People are called to this work when something inside them is ready. Ready to see, to feel, to change. If you feel that quiet pull, that subtle knowing… it is often the doorway opening.

Your breath is not just air.
It is a bridge between worlds.

Our group Holosomatic Breathwork sessions are held as a safe, shared space where you can arrive exactly as you are, no pressure, no judgement, just space to breathe and be. There’s something super powerful about being in a room with others on the same journey, a quiet sense that you’re not alone in what you carry, each person held within a collective intention to soften, release and reconnect. Through conscious connected breathing, music and gentle guidance, you’re invited to turn inward and meet yourself with honesty and compassion, nothing is forced, everything is at your own pace. This is a space where self expression is welcomed, where you can let go of self criticism and allow whatever needs to move, to move. The circle holds you, the breath guides you, and what unfolds often stays with you long after you leave, creating a deeper sense of connection, both within yourself and with others.

What does a Session Look like?

Holotropic and Transpersonal States (Shamanic Style)

We always start with a grounding phase of around to establish a sense of presence.

The Activation phase lasts 10 minutes, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth while in a sitting or lying position.

The Exploration phase, lasting 40 minutes, emphasises mouth breathing in a lying position to facilitate a deeper exploration of one's consciousness. (Conscious Connected Breath)

Lastly, we conclude with a 10-minute integration phase to help participants assimilate and reflect on their experiences.

How to Prepare for the session

Be prepared and wear comfortable clothing and please bring: Please dont eat a heavy meal within 4 hours before a session, something light is ok and stay hydrated.

  • Yoga mat or folding matress - thicker the better for comfort
  • Pillow(S)
  • Cover/throw/quilt
  • Water
  • Notebook and pen
  • Eye cover (advised but not essential)

 

 

Further Understanding

Conscious connected breathing works directly with the autonomic nervous system, the part of you that governs stress and safety, by changing the rhythm of the breath in a supported setting, we can help the body shift out of long held fight or flight responses and into a state where processing becomes possible, research in breathwork and somatic therapy shows that intentional breathing can reduce stress hormones, improve heart rate variability and support emotional regulation.

When something overwhelming happens and cannot be processed at the time, it does not simply disappear, it can remain stored as tension, protective patterns or unresolved emotional charge, breathwork allows access to these deeper layers in a way that talking alone often cannot, the analytical mind softens, the body speaks and what has been held can begin to move.

How this method can support you

There are times in life when you realise you are functioning, but not fully feeling. You might be carrying tension that never quite switches off, feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or tired of holding everything together. You may understand the story, yet your body still feels braced. A session can be powerful when you sense something is ready to shift, when you are willing to meet yourself honestly, and when you want support to move from coping into genuine regulation and reconnection. This work is for those moments when you know you are ready to go deeper, safely and with guidance.

Holding the space

Shane Cooke

Shane Cooke is the founder of The Jasper Cacao Project and The Jasper Community Space.

As a ceremonial space holder, Shane guides people on their journey of self-discovery and healing through meditation, Reiki, breathwork, sound healing, and cacao ceremonies.

His work is rooted in creating safe, heart-centered spaces where individuals can reconnect with themselves, release what no longer serves them, and cultivate deeper presence, balance, and clarity.

Important: Please Read

Contraindications For Cacao

Although cacao is safe for most of us some people should take extra precautions for themselves before eating or drinking cacao.

Cacao is contraindicated with antidepressants including some SSRIs and all MORI antidepressants. If you are on high doses, I would not advise drinking a cacao. If you are on smaller doses smaller amounts of cacao are usually ok, but as always consult your doctor. In the weeks leading to the ceremony, you may want to test doses. Start with 5-10g in 250ml of water and see how that is for you. Please note cacao raises serotonin levels significantly.

For people with increased anxiety, a history of seizures, diabetes and heart conditions please consult your doctor before ingesting cacao.

Contraindications for Breathwork

If any of the contraindications below relate to you, unfortunatly you can not take part, if you are unsure please refer to your GP to see if participation is possible. 

Psychiatric & Mental Health

Severe mental disorders (bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD, paranoia, psychosis, dissociative disorders, etc.)

Severe anxiety or PTSD without professional support

Hospitalization for psychiatric conditions or emotional crisis in the last 10 years

Active withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, or other substances

Low impulse control

Chronic & Autoimmune Diseases

Addison’s disease (adrenal insufficiency)

Chronic respiratory conditions (COPD-II, COPD-III)

Unstable diabetes (especially Type 1)

Severe autoimmune or inflammatory diseases (Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, advanced Fibromyalgia)

Terminal illnesses or chronic conditions with decompensation

Cancer (contraindicated during active treatment or advanced stages—consult your doctor if in remission)

Acute & Musculoskeletal Conditions

Acute somatic or viral illness

Severe adrenal fatigue or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME)

Osteoporosis or unhealed injuries

Severe chronic pain affecting mobility

Major surgery within the past 6 months (especially abdominal, cardiac, or neurological procedures)

Other Considerations

Pregnancy: Not permitted.

Substance Use: Participation is not allowed under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or psychedelics within the last 24 hours.

Fasting: Extended fasting (over 24 hours) is contraindicated.

Asthma: Permitted only if you bring a prescribed inhaler.

Medical Disclosure: You must inform The Jasper Community Space of any relevant treatments, conditions, or medical history that may affect your participation.

The Holosomatic Method is a deeply experiential process and may involve intense, unpredictable emotional or energetic releases. If you are uncertain about your suitability, consult with a medical professional before participating. Your safety is always our top priority.

This was an incredible experience. Shane had already created and set the space before I arrived putting thought and care into everything. I immediately felt at ease and supported which is essential for this kind of inner work. Before the breathwork started Shane outlined exactly the process and we introduced some movement and set intentions for the session so I felt fully prepared before the breathwork began. The breathwork itself was not easy or passive it was fully engaged and enhanced by music and Shanes guidance. I felt seen, heard, held - I wont go too much into my personal experience because it would be different for everyone but personally I felt a huge release of emotion and immense sense of gratitude. Thank you thank you thank you I cannot wait to come again.

I had been to breathwork sessions before but not on this level. Shane is an amazing space holder and is fantastic at explaining everything clearly and making you feel comfortable and safe. The breathwork was really tailored to me and my needs and with the blending of the music and sound, I was able to really delve deep into what needed to be released. I'm not going to sugarcoat it, it's tough journey but I have been able to process things that years of therapy couldn't. I'm eternally grateful for the work Shane does and will be booking in regularly to keep finding those little forgotten prices of myself.

I went into this holosomatic breathwork session feeling tired and honestly not that open to it. I’ve experienced a few breathwork sessions before and never really felt much shift, so my expectations were quite low. But this was completely different. From the start, Shane created a space that felt safe, and grounded. I experienced a level of clarity and release that I hadn’t accessed before. It felt like something really shifted within me and I could really let go. Since that day, I can genuinely say I’ve felt different. My mind feels clearer, calmer, and more spacious. It’s like a weight I didn’t fully realise I was carrying has lifted. I would wholeheartedly recommend Shane and this experience to anyone, whether you’re new to breathwork or have tried it before.
